Dark Comedy and Satire in
How I Learned to Drive
I possess a profound interest and curiosity for comedy theory. This hunger began while taking what I consider to be one of the best courses of my education: "Laughter, Satire and the Comic Form" taught by Dr. Lisa Colletta at the American University of Rome in the Fall of 2012.
I was gearing up to direct a staged reading of Paula Vogel's How I Learned to Drive in the Winter of 2013 at the University of Denver, the quarter after I returned from studying abroad in Rome. (The image shown was the poster I curated for said production.)
The final assignment for Dr. Colletta's class was to write a research paper applying the comedy theory concepts we had learned to a movie or book. Being the theatre nerd that I am and having already begun scratching the surface of Drive in preparation for directing the play, I decided to delve deeper into what is now one of my favorite works of dramatic literature.

SOCIAL MEDIA
When it comes to social media, people don't want to be marketed to. They want to connect. I'm a strong believer that people always care about people more than they care about goods and services, but this is particularly true on social media.
